Leading Others to Conversion
"Leading others to conversion" is extremely important in evangelism. If you only preach the gospel to people but cannot lead them to conversion to Christ, it would be like "catching a deer but not knowing how to remove its antlers", which is really a pity.
Romans 10:9, 10, 13 "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses unto salvation...For whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
From this passage we can see that there are three key points if people want to be saved and justified: confess, believe, and call.
1. Confess with your mouth: Confess Jesus as Lord (personal Savior, Lord of life). Confessing with your mouth will lead to salvation.
2. Believe in your heart: Believe that God raised Him (Lord Jesus) from the dead. People can be justified by believing in their hearts.
("The Lord Jesus died for the sins of mankind and rose from the dead three days later...He was declared to be the Son of God with great power." Rom 1:4)
3. Calling on the name of the Lord: It is a decision and an act of trust. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
The content of the decision prayer may include the following points: Confession (admitting one's sins and believing in Jesus as Savior), personal decision, thanksgiving, declaration, prayer, and blessing.
Reference for the prayer of decision:
1. For person not well literate, you can choose a simple prayer:
a. Jesus, the true God, is my Savior. 〈Confession〉
Forgive my sins, I believe in Jesus. 〈Plea of guilt, personal decision〉
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
b. Jesus loves me and I love Jesus. Jesus saves me, I believe in Jesus.
You are the true God and my Savior.
Forgive my sins and grant me eternal life.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
2. For persons who are literate, has sufficient time, and if the environment permits: a longer prayer may be chosen:
Father God in heaven, thank you for your love for me. I am willing to accept your love and all the blessings you give me.
I am willing to accept Jesus as my personal Savior. I believe that Jesus died for my sins. He rose from the dead on the third day after his death. Jesus Christ is the only true God in this world.
Please forgive me for all my sins in thoughts, words, and deeds. Forgive me for my sin of worshipping idols and false gods. Remove all my curses and bless me.
I now, in the name of the Lord Jesus, accept the Holy Spirit as the master of my life. I ask the Holy Spirit to fill my heart and guide me to follow Jesus all my life.
I pray that God the Father in heaven will bless all my loved ones and that they will believe in and accept Jesus as their Savior as soon as possible.
The above prayer is made sincerely in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
3. "Children: Shorter Prayer"
Lord Jesus, I have done something wrong, please forgive me. Thank you for loving me and please save me. I am willing to believe in and accept Lord Jesus. Please fill my heart with the Holy Spirit and teach me to be a person who helps others know Jesus and save my family.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
4. "Children: Longer Prayer"
Thank you Heavenly Father for loving me. I have done something wrong, please forgive me, Lord Jesus. I am willing to believe and accept Lord Jesus. Please live in my heart. You are the true God who loves me. You are the God who died for three days and resurrected. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill my heart and teach me to be a good child. Help me to lead others to faith in Jesus. Please ask you to ask the devil to leave my home, save my parents, and all my family members to believe in you.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
5. Please write down your prayer for leading people to believe in the Lord (depending on the situation of the person concerned)...
