Am I Valuable?

Psychologists point out that an average person measures his own value by the following:
1. My appearance
2. My achievements
3. My status
Do you agree?
We cannot guarantee that we can always maintain our appearance, achievements and status. If we lose these, how can we avoid feeling inferior and enjoy a rich life?

Let us examine a few passages:
1. Genesis 1:26-27
This passage tells us:

a. Every person is unique. The word "man" in "creating man" is singular in Hebrew and can also be translated as "everyone". God does not create every person to be exactly the same. Man is not created from a "mold"; rather, each person is carefully designed and created by God one by one. Each person's fingerprints are unique, and their appearance and personality are also unique. So we do not need to be someone else, we do not need to be like others, and we do not need to compare ourselves with others, because no one can replace you.
b. We are extremely noble: Because we are created by God in His image and likeness (that is, His attributes: holiness, righteousness, wisdom, power, love...). We have spirit, soul, and body, unlike animals which only have soul and body. We can communicate with God.
c. We are greatly dignified: because God has given us the management and governance of all things!

2. Romans 5:7-8

Our value is immeasurable because the Son of God, the Lord of the universe, our Lord Jesus Christ, used his life to redeem our lives.

3. Psalm 113:7-8

No matter how lowly we are, even as worthless as dirt, God has allowed us to sit with His Son and reign with Him. What a noble status and honor this is!

4. Luke 12:48

People in the world show off to others what they possess, and those who do not have envy others and feel inferior. But God tells us that those who do not have need not envy those who have, and those who have should not be complacent, because God will require everyone to give an account to him. To whomsoever he gives much, of him shall much be required: for all things come from God, and shall return to God.

5. 1 Corinthians 12:27

This verse tells us that we are all part of the body of Christ, and each member has a different function. The hands do not need to be jealous of the feet, and the mouth does not need to be jealous of the ears, eyes, etc. If the hands win a prize for playing the harp, every member of the whole being is honored. (If the American basketball team won the Olympic gold medal for the United States with the help of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, etc., with their outstanding skills, would other players be jealous of them?)

6. 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

Since we are God's stewards, it shows that

a. Everything we have belongs to God.
b. We do not need to consider how others see us; the most important thing is how God sees us. What He requires of us is "faithfulness" (doing our best), not necessarily results.

7. Philippians 3:7-8

The things that people use to "support" their own values are actually just garbage and have no eternal value. Imagine if your colleague earns two more baskets of "garbage" than you every month, would you be jealous of him? Why do we feel uncomfortable when others get a bigger salary increase than us? Our values have not changed.

8. 2 Peter 3:10

All the things that people use to elevate their own values will be burned up when the Lord comes again, and nothing will survive. Only our efforts and dedications for the Lord, the fruits of preaching the gospel, and the building of character for eternal life can last forever.
