The Value of a Person
1. What the world thinks of us
The common yardstick the world uses to measure success and popularity is based on:
a. Attractiveness of appearance
b. Intelligence and cleverness
c. Income/Ability to earn money
d. Social skills
e. Competence
f. Others
2. What Satan thinks of us
Satan does not have a good opinion of us because he does not like us at all. From its various names, we know that its goal is to destroy what God has done in our lives:
a. Satan is a liar, the father of lies (John 8:44)
b. Satan is a tempter (Matt. 4:3, 1 Thess. 3:5)
c. Satan is a deceiver (Revelation 12:9)
d. Satan is an accuser (Revelation 12:10)
e. Satan is an opponent, an enemy (1 Peter 5:8)
f. Satan is a murderer (John 8:44)
g. Satan is a hindrance (1 Thess. 2:18)
3. God's view of us
a. I am made in the image of God! (Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 139:14; Hebrews 2:10-12)
b. I am unique, and no one else can take my place in God's heart! (Isaiah 43:1b, 49:15-16)
c. I am the treasure of God! - He bought me with a price (1 Peter 1:18-19)
d. By his grace, I have received all the love of God (John 17:23; Romans 5:8)
e. I belong to my beloved, and he loves me too! (Song 7:10, Psalms 139:17-18)
f. I have a unique potential to make God rejoice! (Zephaniah 3:17; Isaiah 62:5b)
I am God's awesome masterpiece, the darling of the darlings - This is who I am! I have the potential to move the Creator. I am created to share in his glory, and to be the dwelling place of his Holy Spirit - this is my mission!
I respect you, because you are God's exquisite masterpiece, with amazing potentials, and He loves you so much!
If you know who you really are, how God loves you, and your great and glorious mission, you can no longer despise yourself or doubt your worth.
If you can perceive the glorious potentials in others and understand how God loves them, you will no longer dare to judge. We need to learn to respect each other as God sees us.
